Science Forum

Part of the ISPC’s mandate is to convene periodic high-level dialogues to inform scientific debate among CGIAR scientists and their research partners.

Organized in partnership with the CGIAR Consortium and the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), the Science Forum draws together scientists from advanced research centres, NARS, NGOs, and from each CGIAR Center to:

  • Explore recent scientific advances
  • Identify areas where there is real potential to deliver impacts on development goals
  • Explore new modalities for research collaboration between the CGIAR and partners.

Science Forum 2009

16–17 June, Wageningen, The Netherlands

The first Science Forum brought together more than 300 scientists from 55 countries.

Organized by the CGIAR Science Council in partnership with the CGIAR Secretariat, the Alliance of the CGIAR Centres, GFAR and Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Forum featured six parallel workshops:

  • Resilient natural resource systems
  • The future of food: developing more nutritious diets and safer food
  • ICTs transforming agricultural science, research and technology generation
  • Beyond the yield curve: exerting the power of genetics, genomics and synthetic biology
  • Eco-efficiencies in agro-ecosystems
  • Agriculture beyond food: science for a bio-based economy
